Intro to Interviewing

Diving into the logistics and requirements of being a proficient interviewer, I have now understood how to attract my interviewer by entering the room with charm. Initially, I was uneducated about the simple concept of interacting with my interviewer in a unique way. I thought it was an effortless concept that only required focused conversations about the work one would be doing in the company, but as I watched the video my ISM teacher posted, I thoroughly broke down all the tips they gave into four different points:

  • Confident postures (body language)

  • Finding similar traits (through previous researching

  • Stay away from boring conversations

  • Match their energy

Starting New Skills

Since I had this challenge, I viewed the video my ISM teacher sent to understand this concept. This charm can be explained by my immediate body language, as I will stand and wait for my interviewer rather than sitting with my legs crossed and waiting. Sitting with my legs crossed can portray great ignorance and overconfidence to my interviewer. If I meet and greet my interviewer for the first time while standing, we would share the same vibe, as no one would have a clear overhand superiority over the other. I sometimes act too ignorant through the signs of my body language, so I can improve my body language greatly by enhancing my posture.

Additionally, finding commonalities with my interviewer beforehand can appeal to my interviewer exponentially compared to talking about the daily news or irrelevant information. This technique can guarantee a special first impression to your interviewer. Moreover, it also shows your interest in knowing more details about the interviewer, which makes them feel honoured and special. I'm partially proficient in finding commonalities with my friends and teachers, but I think I can improve my speaking skills by utilizing this skill when talking with my interviewer.

Finally, the last tip that was talked about was matching the energy of the interviewer. If the interviewer enters the room with a dull face and no energy, there is no need to be overly enthusiastic and peppy. However, if your interviewer enters the room with a bright smile and vivid energy, then the right choice would be to match their energy and aim to surpass their energy levels so you seem more interested in the interview than the interviewer. I always strived to have a higher energy level than the other person, so this will be an adjustment and improvement to my attitude when speaking with interviewers.

For the Future

By committing to these techniques, I can say I may have a successful interview in the future. I was successful this week by learning these tips for their further application in the professional world. My goal for the next week is to go more in-depth with ROI and the methods of flipping houses, as there is still so much more to learn about in terms of the property side of real estate and how I can physically reform properties for an influx in profit.
