Scavenging
For the past week, I've been striving to find a mentor. Through relentless messages on LinkedIn and emails, I have persisted in finding some time from professionals near my area. The scavenging process is done by first building connections through LinkedIn and/or forming a Contact List that has the professional's LinkedIn, phone number, and email. This way, you can save their contact info without having to research them again and organize all the professionals you find in a spreadsheet. Another method that can be used to scavenge potential mentors is by searching or browsing through professional companies. This is advantageous since all the contact information might already be posted and a discipline-specific mentor could be found.
Progress
So far, I have contacted 6-7 professionals on LinkedIn, cold-called two professionals, and emailed one professional. I have received feedback from one of the cold calls I conducted today, which shows that they are somewhat appealed to what I want to talk about. I will persevere to make more progress by finding and noting down more numbers so I can have more direct conversations with professionals rather than the one-sided conversations that may occur when blatantly emailing or messaging agents through LinkedIn or Gmail.
Lessons
I have learned that one will not always get the response they expected even if an adequate amount of time and effort has been put into the result. Sometimes one has to consider efficiency: efficient and smart work can save time and achieve many more aspirations rather than the relentless and constant work that one is habituated to. I will apply these lessons I have learned to my future endeavors, as they will assist me with through the struggles that may arise in my real estate journey. may arise in my real estate journey.
