Elevator Pitch: Overview
An elevator pitch is a chance for someone to unravel themselves in 75 words (30-40 seconds) by summarizing their likings/accomplishments, providing what they want from the listener, and listing out a call to action to exemplify an impending impact. Moreover, this method is preferable since it doesn't require much time and is concise. Nonetheless, it is a very simple way to display themselves. It can eventually be extremely useful to professionals, as this pitch can tell many things about oneself such as confidence, experience, and comfort.
The Main Composition
This pitch is comprised of 4 main attributes:
Greeting
Summarization/description
What You Want
Call to action
The "Greeting" section is very self-explanatory, as one must merely greet the professional in a polite and engaging way that grabs their attention. The greeting will be the first part of the pitch and set the first immediate impression, so it must not be underestimated.
The "Summarization/Description" section is for the speaker to showcase their accomplishments or experiences that led them to pursue their interests. This should also be a summarization of the speaker's likings, preferred clubs, and generic interests. Additionally, this is one the listener can get to know more about you in a brief sentence or so.
The "What You Want" section requires one to state the reason why they are presenting this pitch to a particular person. For example, in my case, I may want 30 minutes - 1 hour from a professional mentor that is proficiently expertise in real estate in the future so they can ponder about being my mentor or not. This can be said like this: "My research would be incomplete without further guidance, thus I feel like taking only 30 minutes - 1 hour of your time would be the best option to converse about this mentorship." The goal of this section is to sound like you seek something out of the "professional," but at the same time, you don't want to sound unprofessional and desperately beg them for their time.
The "Call To Action" section adds extreme significance to one's elevator pitch. This part of the pitch allows one to express the impending impact they may possibly make that can influence society in immeasurable ways. By initiating an influence, one can use the call to action to prevail in their goal and aim in their journey of research.
